Follow sailors,ready to purchase a SPECTRA watermaker (cape horn or ventura) 12V 40-60lt/hr i would highly appreciate your experience in the best taste!I don't care about consumption-cost-noise etc!

I don't think you'll find that one brand of watermaker has a better 'taste' than another.

As I understand it only a couple of companies actually make the membranes which do the work. And they all use the same technology.

Friend of mine asked what I thought of his water taste and it was disgusting. He had the same machine as me (Sea Recovery) but the salinity probe was fouled. Cleaned it up and it was lovely.

So you have to say what makes a bad taste?

* Salinity can be a problem if you have leaks/cracks or a damaged salinity meter (if you have an automated system).
* Certain chemicals (including pickling) will still pass through the membrane and leave a taste.
* And of course your own tanks and pipework can leave a taste.

Best bet IMHO is to keep your system well maintained and put in a decent charcoal filtering system on the outbound side of the storage tank, then make sure you replace the filter reasonably often.
