what do you think is the best 25ft to 30ft boat for handling the rough stuff say force 6 and above also any photos out there of boats in action in the surf please post as i think they look great cheers as always forumites....
I was impressed with my brief run in a Westline 24 when we delivered it from the Hamble to Sparkes. Some photos from later that day (taken by Stewart Irving):
A Formula 292 Fastech flattens things out quite nice went out on a friends last year some piece of kit. Alternatively a Baja Performance or Outlaw model is a lot cheaper though doesn't have anywhere near the quality.
probably a big rib if your idea of fun is F6 and above.
Most people will find that is hard work and pretty uncomfortable. Fun for a short play, but most people dont choose to go out in F6.
Otherwise, Nordic boats, I guess. You could add Nimbus Novas and Windy. Just bear in mind that the wind force is only one measure, and sea conditions depend on more than just that.
Depends what you want. As has already been mentioned, most boats designed for the harsh north have pretty good hulls.
One thing you need to remember is because of the way you have to design a hull to deal with big wave and a lot of vetical movement without slamming and crashing around you limit the amount of internal volume you have to play with.
Thanks for the plug Rick, but other than that boat the Windy 25 Mirage is excellent, as is the Botni Targa in either 25 or 27.1 form...
