I'd love to come to the pirate do but an invite away for the weekend and a wench what is no over-excited by the prospect of a cold wet evening after a flog up the Wallet... uphill but working on it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

salvo of water (range 60ft)

I want one - where can I get it? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
If it is a toss up between Bernie in leather and whips and the 'boathook', I'm sorry Bernie but the boathook wins! Boys and their toys etc /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and SWMBO might be there too!!!!

I was "testing" the boathook for a friend who writes for one of the yachting magazines on this forum. Not surprisingly I refused to give it back.

It really is very useful. It's basically an extending boathook with a decent seal in the centre, and a nozzle at the end. The idea is that it doubles as a pump, but the power you can achieve with the narrow tubing and bore is amazing, hence the jet wash effect and the range.

I believe they are manufactured in Canada.

I suspect ours could be potentially quite useful against vessels barging ahead of us into the Dutch locks, which happens more and more.

However good it is, I'm pretty sure its not a serious rival to the the leather and whips option.

It may be wet, but I know it won't be cold - you should've seen the size of the tree they put on the fire last year.

We fully intend to be there, with borrowed mini pirate and his dad (not sure about Mum as she has NO sea legs!) Not sure how we're going to get there (Vreny/Duvel/????) or where we will sleep (might bring tent!) But intend to give it our best shot!

Looking forward to it!

I will also be there, along with many and various not so mini-pirates. As a foster carer I do have the advantage of almost unlimited supplies of pirate crew, so watch out!! I have just taken a horde to Center Parcs by way of practice, so we are well tuned up.

Excellent..... it was fabulous fun for the kids last year.... we had a great treasure hunt with pirate maps.... and the kids built monster sandcastles..... with a group of kids about we hardly new we had them all evening.... a pleasant break from the pressures of parenthood!

If the weather is kind enough, we may well reattempt the tender based trip around the island (Horsey island).... a grand adventure if there ever was one.... compulsory reading of 'Secret Water' required beforehand!

Hope you can make it.... the more the merrier..../forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Unlikely to be able to make it on my boat, but with forward planning hopefully I'll make it for another one so thought I would start making provisions well ahead of time. With that in mind, are there any rules on armaments ?

Thanks Neil, pop over for a peek any time, been busy again today so she's coming together nicely. Hole in foredeck was a pain to repair but got there in the end. Who would have thought that only a few weeks ago I was almost ready to torch her /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re:Restoration Project

Dave,

hats off to you for what looks like a cracking restoration job - or was it more of a complete rebuild? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just a reminder to anyone planning on coming to the pirate weekend....

If you possibly could bring a little bit of wood for the fire that would be great..... we will naturally be beachcombing to collect any wood that has found its way into the Twizzle, but more would be useful... otherwise we'll have a small fizzle rather than a roaring fire!

As it stands, i've just cut a tree down in my back garden and will naturally be bringing a couple of decent sized logs (just to keep Barbican Bill happy really /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif), and a selection of various kindling and mid sized specimens.... FC is indeed, as per last year, bringing another park bench.... we look forward to seeing them glide down into the Backwaters with Mrs FC sat resplendent on the bows on aforementioned bench (if he is being followed by a rib, its probably Essex County Council's park protection department).... and no doubt CliveG will, again as per last year, bring a timber framed house kit.....

But the more the better please!

PS.... we'll bring a big bag of marshmallows again..... bring your own sticks and asbestos gloves please.....
