There I was in Cambridge just finishing one of my Jobs for the day and the Boatyard called me which is very unusual. I was told that because of the high winds yesterday my Dingy/Sib that is kept in the Dingy park was on the Beach the other side of the river some 250 yards away on an incredibly tidal river. It was about 30 mins from high tide and it would take me 2 hours to get there. I was therefore not hopeful. I usually chain my Dingy down but I remembered that I had had to cut the padlock due to rust etc and had forgotten to replace it.
The trip across the river would have taken the Dingy 5 mins all on its own but it is a 1 hour trip by car. How it did not drift out to sea or up the river is quite incredible. There was one other Dingy (solid one) that suffered the same fate.
Off we went and were very please to find that some kind soul had put it in a safe place. It still had its cover on and had no damage at all. That was a nice result because to replace it would be around £600. I think the recent wind must have been responsible for far more loss than I narrowly escaped.
Thanks to the Boatyard and the unknown person who moved it to safety.
