...for making me laugh.

Sat p.m. coming back into Conwy, yellow / black jet-ski buzzing boats in the channel decides to clear off and take a full throttle / angry wasp run out into the bay. Watched him as he skimmed across the sea to where the seagulls were standing. Can't be much water over the sandbank now, thought I, sure enough the rooster tail went brown and the 'wasp' gargled and stopped. Erstwhile hero dismounts his steed with great trepidation into ankle deep water. He's lucky he didn't go over the front. The incident seemed to have stuck the jet-ski hard onto the sand, too, 'cause he was last seen about half a mile off shore, amid a sparkling sea, sillhouetted against the clear blue sky aparently standing on the water and tugging and tugging at the thing.

(Mobo had gone to his assistance, or we would have, honest.....)

Shouldn't gloat.

About three years back two jet skiers were creating havoc on the Blackwater untill they collided, one was killed.

Just before the acident happened I remember watching the idiots speeding through the swing moorings at Marconi!

There was a rumour going around the pontoon that a jetski actually sank after going aground on the banks last weekend. Could this be the one?

It reminds me of an occasion a few years ago. We were coming up the channel into Conwy in a planing fishing boat with an outboard. We must have been drawing only a foot or so but I noticed it getting shallower so we slowed down and eventually stopped in about a foot of water. The next minute a powerboat comes along at full chat so I waved to him to slow down. He took offence at my advice for some reason and signalled his disapproval with gusto.

Oh how we laughed when his outboard kicked up into the air as it hit the bank at 30 knots plus /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

A couple of years ago my wife and I were practising man overboards and a guy on a jet ski comes along, and friendly as you like, picks up the couple of fenders tied together we were using and brings them back to us. We had a real hard time explaining to him that we were doing this deliberately. I think he finally took off in a snit thinking we were stuck up sailors.

Don't think so - he was firmly aground on a falling tide, so it would be at least 6 hrs before he could sink (This was Sat p.m.). I have heard rumours of another incident with a jet-ski around Conwy where the lifeboat was launched, but don't know anything for certain. HH CG were emergency working while we were out, but I think this was the accident at Abersoch.

Have checked the Rhyl Lifeboat page but nothing listed (interesting reading IMHO - follow the 'services' link).

At least no-one was hurt, and possibly someone is a little the wiser.
