Just logged on to the RYA website to download my free SIBS ticket to discover the offer ended on Thursday.

So thanks RYA - for nothing.

As this is just about the only actual benefit I receive for my 'platinum' membership status I think this will be my final year of membership.

I do look forward to explaining this to them in person tomorrow. The £40 will instead pay for some teak cleaner, a beer and an extra donation to Hamble lifeboat.

Oh b*****r!
I was planning to download tickets today but have missed the boat too! Not impressed.

Was the details of the offer not published?

Nothing like planning ahead.:encouragement:

Hmmm...have to say I do seem to remember reading on their website the offer ran only til the Thursday before. I might be wrong but it’s flagging up in my mind.
L

it was pretty clearly stated. Not down to the RYA, it is the ticketing policy fro the organisors. The deal was only available as advance tickets, and advance tickets have to be booked before the event beginning according to SIBS organisors.

Missed mine too, only realised this morning.

Not sure about Soton but you could get the tickets for the London show on the night before.

Bit cross with myself for not reading the flyer properly this time...

All free offers have conditions, personally I'd like to be able to wave my membership card at the gate, but SBS is a commercial organisation and not a charity.

You did have more than ample time to get a free ticket which is valid on any one day.
The adult membership fee is £45 so you will be able to donate more to the lifeboat than you thought.

It says it in red letters:-

All Members - TheYachtMarket.com Southampton Boat Show ticket offer
Offer expires at 23:59 on 13 September 2018
Yes I have read that now, but in the run up I did not bother with the details before I tried to get the ticket on Saturday morning. I do not recall the deadline in prior years, but perhaps I downloaded the ticket earlier.

That said the RYA send members stuff in the post continuously, so why not issue all members a ticket and make it valid only if shown with the membership card.

Academic for next year as I would rather Hamble Lifeboat gets the £45, along with the £95 no longer going to the RNLI.

This has always been the case - well, for the last five or six years anyway. As already suggested, it is not the RYA's fault - it is the show organiser that insists that these special offers should cease before the show opens.

You really are a proper princess aren't you, spit the dummy out and blame everyone for YOUR F*@%ups.
Printing off a shed load of tickets costs a shed load of money . You messed up again, just admit it and stop blaming everyone else, man up! (insert smiley)

Really?

Has anyone ever paid for a ticket? I've been going on and off since 1983 and never once had to stick my hand in my pocket. At the Guinness tent however,,,,,,,,

Just printed off my free ticket using the link in post #13 and entering my RYA membership number.
The announcement in red on the RYA website that the offer has expired is incorrect (or Fake News as Trump would call it), and they don't link to their own offer on the SIBS website. That's a bit daft.
