followed all the instructions on removing photo's etc.. have just loaded the forum for the first time since making the changes and now it opens the threads before i've even decided which thread I want to read..
nice bit of coding whoever it was.. blindingly fast...
This one to the credit of Paul Lomax on the ybw tech team. Software for these forums was stock when we went live with it (in a bit of a hurry) a couple of years back but has gradually been modified to improve and add bits. Latest step change really only became obvious as a requirement when the forum attendance in recent weeks started to look a bit like the Piano Bar in Amsterdam after midnight (if you've been there you'll understand).
Answer came through optimising certain database activities to reduce server load, so changes will be most evident on forums but should see some benefits in some other bits of ybw too. In an unrelated move we've also upgraded the server on which several of our other databases run so, for example, the London Boat Show online previews will be a bit slicker when you see them go live in December. Ditto Copyshop/indexes and the marine directory.
used to get all sorts of compromising pics published in MBM when editor...happened every time I left the office and they still have a file on me which, I can assure you, will go missing one dark night here at KRT once I find a supplier of black balaclavas /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
I'm sure you could assemble a team from your friends on the forum to carry out this task, as long as it doesn't involve abseiling into the building or too much helicopter driving. What will happen to the pictures afterwards is another matter....
...the offer is appreciated but after much careful consideration I think it is only fair that I should be the only one to carry the risk of breaking into the MBM tower.
Or to put it another trendy way, having carried out a risk assessment of the virtues of MBm holding the pics versus forum users it has put it into perspective for me!
Not sure that removing that one source will benefit you. They seem to have spread far and wide.
Jake has a particularly nice one of your bum hanging off a bathing platform (clad in drysuit I hasten to add)
