Returning my pride and joy to her mooring this afternoon, my sincere thanks to the chap in a motor boat who slowed right right down in Itchenor reach as we were getting into our dingy this afternoon.
To the bast--d in his motor yacht coming up the reach 5 mins later with large high wash who almost swamped me, I hope you have a season full of expensive mechanical failures and sludgy fuel.

May his
- turbo bearings become clogged with caramelised oil
- exhaust elbow corrode and leak seawater
- alternator belts go slack, and fall off
- seawater pump drip seawater down the timing cover
- heat exchanger become restricted in flow
- outdrive oil be milky
- entire family be consumed by "Jaws" next time they swim

Then again, I've had all apart from the last one over the last 5 years without swamping anybody...

I can totally sympathise!

I watched this complete prick in his 40foot princess, open up his boat in a 7knot speed limit! Cause this guy with his young lad in their sailing boat to have to crouch down in there cockpit they were tossed around so much. Then as he blasted past me he smiled and waved. I did nothing in return except stare at him shaking my head.

Like you say, it gives all of us a bad name. What does it take to have a little consideration and observe what is going on around you.

May he snag a very expensive shirt on his throttle leavers next time he presses them forward... /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

This is all down to where you started on the boating ladder. If your first step was mucking about in a manky little something or other you are only to aware of the grief that large amounts of wash can cause......and you will always remember (well nearly) just to have a quick look round before you take off to see who is nearbye mebbe going ashore with wife and a mountain of gear in the proverbial soapdish.
Sorry if painting with course brush but why is it always so big new and shiney at the head of all that wash./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Yes, maybe a name and shame section should be made.

Or a confessions area, "forgive YBW, for I have sinned...."
