Hi Non-Tidal Thames Boaters and Vistors to the NTT,

This new, significant event went under my radar (no pun) during the End of last year.

It would be nice to know why a Government body awarded a contract that commenced in November to company that didn't exist? The TVM was created on 12th January this year. The EA have entrusted a company with no history, 1 officer and a share capital of £100.00 to manage the collection of part of their income and the collection of our payment and whereabouts details, there are no valid references to data protection or adequate T & C's on the website. No history of trading by the Director of demonstration of compentancy to carry out these duties.

I'm alarmed to say the least and whilst will phone to register a mooring ( if the signage dictates this), will be paying in cash as is still an option given on the website.

As an aside, during this afternoons cruise between Bray and Dorney, no new signs informing of what is required.

For the record, I am a leisure cruiser moored at Bray Marina, had my EA License stuck to the window in January.

I should also say that I have had a similar offer from Jonathan Goodfriend based in Nigeria asking for my credit card and personal details - as the BBC states "just for balance".

I'm generally very law abiding but I will ignore this arrangement. If someone comes to collect like Steve of SRB at Henley with proper receipts then I will pay up. Not going to book online as my phone has no signal.

This "TVM" thing is either a vendetta, a bored person's entertainment or possibly dipping a toe in the water of moorings enforcement to see what the deal is.

You need a lot of people out and about to enforce this sort of thing and that is not going to be cheap.

Waste of time in my opinion.

Wot he said ...

I would say that EA has lost the plot, but there’s a pre-requisite for that... you have to have an idea of the plot to start with!
Chocolate teapot springs to mind, I’m afraid.

Google reveals our Rex may have been the MD of two previous mooring firms... go figure. It's a huge crock of cr@p IMHO.

I was speaking to a moorer at Goring today and he registered as per mooring board and he was told he was the 750'th to register.
