Thames trip

Hi all,
We are planning to come down the Thames from Titchmarsh Marina next week, I was hoping to get to St Kats (is there good depth on the waiting buoys?) and perhaps one other marina either on the way in or out.
Was planning a departure from Queenborough at around LW-1.5
Also, are there any parts I should stay away from i.e. use outside of bends etc any advice will be welcome, forgot to say we draw 1.8 M sailing boat.

The mooring bouys outside St Kats are more than adequate for you at all states of tide. Make sure you book a berth though. Just obey the normal rules of the road and you will be OK. Don't forget to call and get permission to pass through the barrier, you will see a huge sign telling when to do so.
Enjoy yourself, you can't beat St Kats for being 'in town' .

The inside bends from Thurrock up to the M25 bridge are worth being well away from.

If doing in the dark can be very confusing around there!

If possible try not to arrive to early as bouncing about outside is nobodies idea of fun.Also try to avoid to first lock in as everyone who has had their fillings being rattled for ages will try a dash for the lock and some very ungentlemanly behaviour can occur. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Good places to eat are Shad Thames, the area directly opposite St Kats or walk down Wapping High St for pubgrub at the Ramsgate or best italian in London
"il Bordello" if you want to impress the wife(but at reasonable cost.)
If indian is your thing there is a goodish place a 100 yds or so south of Tower Bridge.
If not,hope you enjoy your beans on toast and enjoy the view.

Don't cut corners - ie stick to the starboard side of the river - the traffic control will get on your case (very politely) otherwise. Plenty of depth but don't get too close to the banks.
