2015 updates for alerting other YBW users to Thames River conditions and other urgent information for river users.

Any registered forum user can post a message on this thread (and this thread only for reasons that will become clear) if there is a sudden change in conditions or other urgent information. With the number of people here out and about and living on the river, this has proved to be a very valuable tool.

If you want to receive alerts, click on 'Thread Tools' at the top of this thread and select 'Subscribe To This Thread' from the dropdown. Then select 'Instant Notification by Email' and then click on 'Add subscription'.

If you do this, ANY post to this thread will automatically be emailed to your registered email address. Provided you have a mobile with email capability you will then receive messages as they are posted without needing to visit the website.

Please note this thread is not for general discussion and ONLY to report river/weather conditions and other urgent information which may be helpful to river users so please, do not post here unless that is the case.

Latest EA stream warnings/status are available here:

Today, the River is Wet, and flowing in a downstream direction.

Tomorrow is looking similar, I suspect.... :nonchalance:

EA suspend River Conditions email updates

Following received from EA:
Suspension of River Thames River Conditions email updates
Dear Subscriber
Although the River Thames Conditions website itself is working normally, and continues to display real time river condition information to help ensure you can enjoy the river safely, technical issues mean we can no longer send out emails advising recipients of any changes to the information.
The way the website was set up means these technical issues cannot be fixed without a complete overhaul of the site, which will be costly. We are therefore exploring alternative options.
Until such time as we may be able to issue email updates again, please ensure you always visit the website to check the river conditions before venturing out on the river. If yellow or red warnings are being displayed, please heed the advice relating to them to keep yourself and your passengers safe from harm, and your boat safe from damage. Please remember to refresh the page each time you log in so that you see the most up to date information.
This email has been sent to you from a corporate email account. We can only send emails to small groups of recipients from this account, and have to do so manually. We have had to send this message many times over to small batches of recipients to reach all 5000 River Thames Conditions registered subscribers. As you can imagine, this was an extremely time-consuming exercise. It was justified on this occasion, as it was important we let you know about this issue, but using this account to send out multiple emails on a regular basis such as river condition emails is not viable.
We will update you when there is something significant to report, but for now, this is all the information we can share.
Thank you.
