Flow rate at Maidenhead has dropped to 97 cumecs this morning - the lowest rate since 20th December just before the severe rainfall and subsequent flooding began. Ideally we are looking to see rates of around 50 cumecs or less which were the norm throughout early December and most of November last year.

That's a well known shallow spot and has been marked for many years, I assume the floods have washed away many markers over the winter.

The theory was that a massive tree fell into the river many years ago and silt had built up over it. Passage has always been hard to left as you go round that bend. It was never really wide enough for two way traffic though.

Apparently the silt bank is larger than it has been before meaning you need to go even further to the left now

Don't think they are back up to yellows, isn't it just the way the email system works and only lists those that have changed state? so basicaly it wasn't all clear and some were still on yellows.

Flow seems to be dropping off already. Do you think it may be ok by the weekend in the lower reaches?

Depends on the rainfall , I closed in a gate at teddington at midnight last night , which would account for the drop in the flow you are seeing this morning but I see they have re-opened it again today.

Yellow "Stream Increasing" boards out from Mapledurham down to Teddington with the exception of Boveney to Bell Weir. Having been down to 50 cumecs earlier this month flow rate at Maidenhead back up to 90 cumecs this morning which is same as late March. Likelihood of further rain in the coming days.

Why haven't they started dredging yet?

I've not seen it, but apparently a dredger has been operating in the Abingdon area

Latest update shows almost riverwide Yellows now with Reds at Shifford, Pinkhill, Shiplake, Marsh, Hambledon, Temple/Marlow and Old Windsor/Bell Weir.
