Thames River Conditions - 2012

Correct , the site is only updated if there is a change .

We will try and log on each day when the river is in enhanced conditions to just show that the site was visited by admin staff , so you dont think that we are forgetting you and trying to mess your weekend up , but it's not always possible.

Before you grumble too much , bear in mind that only a few years ago this facility didn't exist at all. You had to call the locks , or actually be travelling on the river to see the board statuses.

A few yellows on show now , i've updated the site accordingly.

Not much water above Bray lock today!

A retired lock keeper stated he had less than6"
Of water beneath his props when he was forced to take refuge
With 2 other boats in Bray lock, because river levels
had dropped to such a low level!
A power supply problem to the weir , seems to have caused the problem.

I appreciate it, I guess we are used to having information immediately now and just want to get back out on the river :)

River Thames Conditions Update

Here is the latest update from the Environment Agency for river conditions on the River Thames between Cricklade and Teddington. Please note, this e-mail only contains the latest changes to warning boards displayed at our locks. To view conditions for the whole non-tidal river or to unsubscribe from this service please go to: http://riverconditions.environment-agency.gov.uk/

Likely outlook

River flows and velocities are still high along the length of the river. In some places mooring sites remain vulnerable to overtopping. Following the recent high winds there is still a large amount of debris drifting down causing hazards to anyone navigating.

Yellow boards are starting to be displayed at a small number of sites , with flows slowly decreasing in those areas.
