2009 update for alerting other YBW users to Thames River conditions.

The idea being that any registered user can post on this thread (and this thread only for reasons that will become clear) if there is a sudden change in conditions. With the number of people here on the river, this could become a very valuable tool.

If you want to receive alerts, go to the foot of this thread and in the Extra Information panel there is an option to make the thread a 'Favourite Topic'.

If you do this, ANY post to this thread will automatically be emailed to your registered email address. Provided you have a mobile with email capability you will then receive messages as they are posted without needing to visit the website.

Please note this thread is not for general discussion and ONLY to report river/weather conditions so please, do not post here unless that is the case.

Latest EA stream warnings/status are available HERE

Very wet in staines. Forgot wellies this morning and cannot get to house. Have retreated to pub

Another ten inches due tonight. We have a loose boat stuck on head of island, with pontoon

One house along Laleham Reach has water over its floor now.

One sluice of the Jubilee flood relief scheme was opened at 4pm and this resulted in the 10" we've seen this evening. Small mercies that EA won't open another sluice until daylight hours so we can all deploy sandbags and mop up in the sunshine!

You would think that the EA would take particular attention to their Flood Warning website

I know this isn't a discussion thread.... but level has dropped by an inch in the last hour. Stream still 10-12 knots.
