Evening all.

SWMBO has decided she would like to go up the Thames later in the summer. I don't want to have to take my masts down, how far can I get before I have to turn round?

Best wishes to all

Unless you can step your masts, beyond Tower Bridge would be a strictly low water job ?
about 28ft at high water but maybe plus another 20ft at low,the crunch would be at Hammersmith :)
IFAIAC it would be worth sorting those masts ,that run up through central London is worth any amount of effort.

We went up the Thames last summer. I really enjoyed it, what an experience. Tower Bridge will be what stops you going any further, but you can go into St Katharine Dock there. It's worth it as it's a great place to stay. My OH was brilliant at planning everything. We sailed out of Ipswich then went to Burnham on Crouch. We then had a night on a mooring at Queenborough. It's tricky catching the tides so we had a night at Greenwich Yacht Club. The lock at St Kats has to be booked and opens at high water.

Sharfleet creek is better than QB

I don't think I'm losing the plot I think YBW are. I'm suffering from losing posts this morning and suffering from being logged out...........

Not knowing, I wonder what incentive Tower Bridge requires to be opened for the passage of a pleasure vessel? Despite the disappearance of regular commercial freighters into the Pool many many years ago the Bridge still opens pretty darned frequently, ISTR some right of a vessel's skipper to demand opening regardless of the state of the road traffic.

Its a "Right of Passage" i think going back conditions placed upon the original operators at the time of its inception.
prior arrangement required

Thames - Thanks

Yes its a DOUBLE POSTER

I plead guilty to that capital offence !!

However many thanks to all who have responded, I look forward to trying out all alcoholic stops en route ! It would appear that Tower Bridge will be my limit, nevertheless it will still be a good run up from R'gate.

Regards
