Thames motor boat

I must admit you didnt make it clear . Thats why i showed my mates 1500 quid boat to you . Another member offered a 9 k boat . Then you came back and told us what boat you wanted . How are we supposed to know
I think the main thing we need to know is do you want a boat where you can take the fenders in or are you happy to leave them out

On mature reflection, what I envisage is something like a Nimbus 320 with a non bore polishing 40/50 Hp engine.
There are a number of models around that might fit this somewhat incomplete profile but as I said before it all depends on your budget. Those that spring to mind include the Sheerline 950 and the Broom 29, both roomy as river boats go and with engines around the 50hp mark. For something a little bit bigger, there is the Capriole 1020 and the superb Haines 31 with the 56 hp Nanni option. And there are lots more......

Some models

Have sold my South Coast motor boat and have it in mind to buy a small (25 foot or so) motor boat for poddling about Thames/ Shepportonish area. Not to keen on the 240 hp plus boats on offer and would welcome advice re low suitable low powered boats.

you may not get what you are looking for in terms of size, age and money so you WILL have to compromise.

Some to get you going, just put a call in to all the Thames brokers and they will come up with the goods, that I have no doubt.

When I say old I am talking 20 - 30 yrs old

Birchwood 25 (old)
Freeman 24 & 27 (old / white / brown)
Birchwood 27 (old)
Freeman 33 (old / white brown)
Sheerline (look at all of them / newish)
Broom 29 (15 ish years)
Seamaster 30!!
Fairline Mirage (20+ / aft cabin / aft cockpit petrol diesel / fast slow)
Nimbus
A good few steel boats.
Falcon 27's or what ever the river versions are called...

Most Thames brokers specialise in one or two brands and will have something that suits your needs, if none of the above suit then you may have to re think!

Fenders up and speed down as you dont want to upset anyone in this parish!

Ahem....

Original question suggested 25 footer.

Late post admitted 32 footer. Thirty-bloody-two feet!!

Now a 32 footer is nothing like a 25 footer is it guys?

Original post now deemed to be a bit of a pathetic waste of time...

FFS, what has happened to the quality of noobs?

What next?

'I'm looking for a 40hp outboard.....Oh, no make that a 200bhp V6, no, a pair of 300's.....'

Well after that roasting I guess this new guy will not be coming back to this unfriendly forum. :(

OK so he wasn't explicit enough does he really deserve the vilification he is now getting?

Point taken Byron, but it was this alone which prompted my reality check:

Read from beginning and go to war somewhere else

Pure arrogance.

The forumites are most forgiving of blatent ignorance, and enjoy bringing noobs into the bosom of the forum, and all it entails.

However, a reluctance to admit ones question was so at odds with ones latter comments, and the subsequent disrespect needed a little attitude correction.

The Tw@t...

This post needs to be treated with extreme suspicion. Note the time of posting - 23:06 - after 11pm !!!

Anyone who knows the real Oldgit will know that a post from him at that hour is just not possible :D
