Hi all, I currently have my boat moored in the Solent but am thinking of bringing her up to explore the Thames for the winter months. I live by the river in Isleworth by the London Apprentice, where are the closest moorings to Isleworth for a 24ft cabin cruiser, and what sort of indicative cost would a monthly mooring be on the Thames?

I hate to disillusion you but between lock closures for maintenance and strong stream warnings you may not get much use over the winter.
That would be non-tidal, Teddington upstream.

keep your ear to the ground for MDL doing a special offer. It was well worth it a couple of winters ago !

The PLA have some spare trots outside Chas Newens. Not sure about costs though.

The Thames can be even more fun in winter as it's less busy. Can even get onto St Kats pontoon for a spot of lunch at the Dickens!

Dear ol' Chas, quite the rogue in his youth (meant as a compliment). I was at his 'do' last time he was installed as Master of The Company of Watermen & Lightermen. Even the Bishop of London in his speech admitted to have been taken in by Chas many years ago.

Chas Newens (Putney) have some fore and aft moorings just above richmond 1/2 tide lock on the twickenham side. V cheap, parking easy (if you check the tides it can flood). You can chain an old dinghy in place and it's only a 3 stroke row to the boat.
Downsides are:
lots and lots of goose and pigeon poo, you need a tarp or a scarer.,
Have to move for the draw down when they leave the 1/2 tide lock open in (i think) november.

Or teddington yacht harbour.

Brentford Dock Marina is close to Isleworth
about 47 plus vat per metre per quarter
But your access to the river is dependent on tidal windows (locking)

Try above richmond lock (by Marble Hill Park or Teddington Harbour way) that way you dont have to worry about tides etc and its not a million miles from Iselworth so you can leave the car at home.. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Beer is what I meant

You could also try Eel Pie Boatyard on 0208 892 3626 or Lion Boathouse on 0209 891 1025, both in Twickenham.
