Thames Estuary One Design \'Ripple\'

Hi Does anyone have any information on the above boat ? I know they were built in Tollesbury in 1912 for the Alexandra Sailing Club in Southend. Designed by Morgan Giles, how many of the very early ones still exist ? does anyone know where no. 1 is ?

I seem to think that Ripple may have been owned by Fabian Bush. Was gaff rigged in the early 80's. The design is almost identicle to the Walton And Frinton One Designs. Three are still about. I'll check the records.

This one has been in a garden awaiting a rebuild for the last 20 odd years. She was brought from Isle of Wight previous to that where she had been for many years, so maybe he owned a different one. We know her full history being built by Drakes of Tollesbury in 1912 for the Alexandra Sailing Club, Funny connection there as well, the founder of that club ,Wiseman, was the owner of my smack's main opposition in the local regattas held in Pagglesham around 1883 - small world this classic boat thing !

Essex Yacht Club of Leigh-on-Sea has a fleet of 15-20 Estuary One Designs that are a derivative of the TEOD. Many of the boats are raced on a regular basis. Here is a link to the EOD part of their website http://www.eodclass.org.uk/
