Just a thought and not relevant now you've decided to ditch the idea but .........

Were you intending to sail the Achilles from Milford Haven to Sharpness ? If so, thats a fair old journey in a 24 footer and very dependant on weather. Probably 150 miles or so if the wind doesn't play ball.

Then there's ventilation. Yachts simply can't comply with the BSS requirements. Examiners are given some latitude on this but how much discretion they will use varies

Plenty of yachts have the BSS certification needed to be based on the Scottish Canals.

Like I said, examiners have been given discretion for sea going vessels and especially such craft based on or regularly using coastal and ship canals. How far they are prepared to extend that discretion is a movable feast and that particularly applies when it comes to taking yachts etc. onto inland canals. However, the maximum time on a self declaration is now long enough for that not to matter

A lot less now than you would have a few years ago and C&RT are actively tackling the problem.
