Before some smart arse says this isn't boat related there are a number of ship's bells dotted throughout the video. There are also a great number of tattoo parlours in Patong and as everyone knows seamen love tattoos so let's here no more on the matter.

A re-edit has meant youtube seems happy to host at the moment. I think the ping pong balls in the last version were a little too extreme and I can sort of see why. There was also a lot of camera shake when I was holding the balloon. How would you ever start to calibrate the sights on one of those things !

I am making a much more boat related video at the moment around the Krabi coastline and filming on the Canon 600 so quality should hopefully be top notch. This was shot in the dim light on a trusty old camcorder which wouldn't be missed it it met with an untimely demise. I'll sling that one on here when it's finished. But for now a quiet night out on the tiles in Patong ;)

We got 'stuck' in Patong for a few nights while crawling back up the coast of Thailand last year.

My advice for anyone who wants to see the real Thailand, avoid Phuket altogether! Although I do appreciate that it's 'on the route' for many tourists (including myself)

You write in the credits you don't judge,

well from memory a long time ago,1967 if I recall correctly, on board one of her majesty's submersible vessels visiting parts of the far flung, most of the crew judged that, if the young thing sat on your lap outside a bar down Boogie Street was really good looking, slid your hand up her mini skirt to arrive at a plate of meat and two veg, lesson then learnt, pick one that was less attractive to the eye, better yet, pig ugly and you'd be on a winner:D

Merry Christmas All.

There is indeed some sense in what you say.

It pays to keep your witts about you when it comes to these matters.

There are parts of Phuket still largely unspoiled but Patong is most definitely not one of them. Taken for what it is though few places on earth beat it.

If natural Thailand is your thing then a quick hop across Phang Nga bay takes you to the real deal. Just finalising that video now.

Gah! Won't play on the iPad! What kind of mobo elitism is this?!

There are some things a policeman should never be shown......especially if it can be held against you...............and boy oh boy is she holding it against him.

Very steamy indeed.

I suspect the no ipad thing is related to the soundtrack which is copyright protected. the record company put an advert on there and claim revenue. they also want to know where you are in the world and ipads don't work the same as computers. More like a mobile phone.

I think that's the case anyway.

Another very well shot and edited video, Henry! Though my wife failed to make the connection and wasn't interested in a second viewing :D

Very much looking forward seeing your next vid with the dslr and hearing how you got on with it.

hi Henry,

I'm a little concerned that you are flouting petty laws , seriously !

In UK many people get away with it but you are in Thailand and you are running a very serious risk.

The dodgy Bars in Thailand do not allow photography, you know that as there are signs everywhere.

If you get caught by a dodgy Thai owner you will get your old camera confiscated and maybe get a little rough treatment, alright after a few beers a good laugh.

If you chose the wrong bar though, perhaps where some dodgy westerner has gone to retire/hide all he has to do is place £10-£20 of E tabs in your pocket and report to Thai narcotics team that you are selling drugs in his bar.

You will have £50-£200 cash in your pockets and that will be enough for you to be locked up for 25 years.
first 3 months will be in chains, welded to your feet.
Then shared cell , one toilet between 20-30, no aircon, many die.

You have had a good time, great laugh but you are running more of a risk that you appear to realize.

PS

I am very interested in seeing more videos of Thailand, boats, beaches, mango swamps ,floating villages , marine life, Elephant safaris I love that part of Thailand :)

I visit Thailand with my eyes wide open and have spent a while over here.

There is a big difference between the various types of bars and it is obvious where you would and wouldn't film to the point where I wouldn't even have my phone on me in some places.

Patong is a pretty safe providing you aren't stupid.

DAKA - You are right in what you say, but henry is also quite right when he mentions Patong being quite 'user friendly'

I didn't watch all the video, but the recordings seem to be outside on the street? Absolutily no problem with that. Where they don't allow photography is inside where the ladies may lose some of their clothes while dancing ;)

I'll give you an example; The GF and I were in Bangkok and decided to dare Soi Cowboy for the fun of it. We took hundreds of pictures on the street, many with some of the touts trying to get you into the establishment and there were no problems. The next evening we decided go darken the doors of one of these places (we couldn't leave Thailand without at least seeing what's behind the doors) - obviously without a camera. A guy sitting next to us innocently pulled out his phone (he said after he'd gotten a txt - he was a westerner living in Bangkok) and all hell broke loose. Cue about 20 'ladies', along with other male workers surrounding him. We left before we got dragged into it

I took lots of videos with my Canon 600D whilst in Thailand last week.
But I haven't had the time to do anything with them yet.
Mostly trips into northern Thailand
I've also had problems with Youtube and royalties etc.
I've done a video on our trip to the F1 in Valencia but it has an audio track that won't publish on Youtube - it would be great if I could post it.
I might remove the audio track and publish it anyway if anyone is interested.

In the meantime, here's a still pic taken recently in Krabi using my 600D

Please do! I suggested to Henry on the other thread to try Photobucket instead and he was giving it a go. P-B hasn't given me any problems so far.

OTOH, we haven't heard back from him so it may have not worked...

Nice picture!

Hurricane - Please upload pics of Thailand, I miss the place :(

Hope you enjoyed Bangkok! Can't wait to see the N. Thailand pics - I wished we stayed up there for longer :(

Sorry for not replying earlier.
Yes, we followed your advice (well generally anyway).
Dinner in Cabages and Condoms
Got some great pics from the top of the tower in Bangkok
Also did the boat trips round Bangkok itself
You were right about the need to get back to the hotel for a shower before setting off again.
Thanks again for your advice on Bangkok.

We then spent about 14 days going round the north (Chaing Mai, Mai Hong Son, and Chaing Rai etc - including a bit or Burma and the Golden Triangle) and then a few days relaxing in Krabi before our flight home.

BTW
I'm trying a video (of our F1 trip) upload to Photobucket to see if PB allows the audio tracks that I've used.
You tube is very strict - some of the audio tracks I got from Youtube itself!!

I'll let you know in a following post.
