how do you do 1kn and maintain any direction? On mine its a right pain.

Mine too, its only the fact that there wasnt any wind that stopped us running aground for certain.

No wind= shut down and the current will always take you to the fastest flow ie/ deepest water. :)

Daka and a sailing boat in a narrow channel... I'm amazed you didn't just ram him, fix bayonets and bolt cutters and form a boarding party!

Or does it only happen when they are Continental Europeans?

;)

Jamie

that wasnt my fault that time (think you refer to one of the newton creek incidents);)

He rammed me, I had to start dismantling his boat as he snagged my rails.
It was nothing a good shipwright or carpenter couldnt have sorted :)
I could have rebuilt it myself with a hammer and a bit of tape but he didnt hang around long enough

But if the sailing boat can safely navigate only within the channel or fairway then Daka being under 20 metres mustn't impede him under that rule either.

I had no intention of impeding him, I wanted to make smoke !
Thats the whole point :D

He saw me coming and could have so easily waited say 30 seconds outside the channel for me to pass but he chose to cut into the channel and block me in.

You should have passed closely with him to port. He would have felt the need to give you a one finger wave and would fall off his boat letting go of the string! ;)
