Fantastic store to get stocked up if needing supplies and are in the area. Good selection of fresh fruit and veg. Good Organic stuff including milk and butter. National Lottery outlet there and the petrol is a bit cheaper than anywhere else locally.
 
We stocked up with stores for 6 days sailing there last year. The car (Saab 93) was already loaded up with 4 crew and too much kit, a spray hood frame arched from boot to by the gear lever.

When we got back to the car with a WELL laoded trolley everyone (except driver) had to have the shopping sat on their laps! The wheels dissapeared up into the wheel arches. We then had the drive from Oban to Fort William. Thats about 5 miles is'nt it claymore?
 
Any news from Tayvallich?

Both Craobh and Melfort speak highly of its victualling capability.

I was at a Burns Night and was wondering if anyone can provide more detail?
 
I was there. Did you meet the young chap on the management scheme? Very helpful. He said that Skye's the limit for people who want to train there. Or I think he did.
 
I find Morrisons in Troon, line of sight and tripping distance from the marina, quite good for the important victualling.

Especially the four bottles of good ale for a fiver, including Deuchars IPA, Wadworth, Brakespear, Spitfire etc etc.
Im told they also sell food.
But I never eat on an empty belly.
 
I agree everything you say about Troon's shopping facilities, but still not as close as Whitby's. Where else do you berth your boat virtually in the supermarket car park. Come on, find a closer one!
 
Even allowing for tham tae be lang country miles between Oban an Fart Bill, there'll be a deal mair than 5. yer butter must have melted by the time ye got there - were you at Corpach?
 
Yeh! I thought that were a bloody long drive, is that the best you can do in the way of a road!

Yes we were in Corpach, least thats were we collected the boat from. Sailed it back to Plymouth. It was an easy sail, its all downhill from Scotland to Plymouth you know.
 
tescos in gibraltar has a slip leading directly to the shop. it also has a bar innit but be quick the supermarket is up for sale
 
Last time we stocked up there the taxi driver on the way back to the boat gave us the tape of the music he had on the radio as we liked it......thats Highland hospitality for you.

But Haggis!!! How the hell can you eat that! Looks, smells and tastes like its already been eaten once before! Euuuch! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
 
Sounds like you've just had life too easy. if you were brought up on a diet of neeps you'd be glad of the odd bit o' haggis tae take away the taste - disnae stap ra fairtin though
 
isnt that where robbie got his surname from, the aftermath of eating haggis and neeps and what it does to ......
