Just reading a post or two to pass an hour of abject boredom, here in the land of the benighted roll mop.
Does anyone have a 'bad' lady as opposed to a good one?

Also the Swmbo malarkey - must she?

Yep, a timely post.. A present from my son (57 years) a Hot Water Dispenser...Ah! a new modern word for an electric kettle I thought..No chance, this thing is absolutely lethal!! Fill it with water, press the button and within seconds it spews boiling water under about 1000 lbs PSI from a tiny spout. Frightened the bloody life out of me. I think it was designed for posh little coffee cups because only about half a tea mug of scalding water comes out at any one push of the button. Pressing the button again results in overflow and the kitchen work top awash...
Not a rant, just a warning to other unwary Wrinklies unfamiliar with er...progress ...:ROFLMAO:

Got one of those and love it. Mine gives out just under a mug full though so ideal for quick brew. Plus you only boil what you need.

This device is sized and shaped like a kettle, plugs into a wall socket, it is filled as a kettle via a pop up lid and has on/off switch. The only 'give away' is an attached tray on which to stand a cup under a downward pointing spout. Press button and stand clear.. 10-12 seconds and Whoosh! Tea time...:ROFLMAO:

As a matter of personal safety, my lady is very, very good, but I'm reminded of Mae West - "When I'm good I'm very, very good, but when I'm bad, I'm better."

As an aside, I Googled to check the identity of the lady concerned. The first site that came up was this. A virtual pint for anyone who can read it to the end

I guess I'm just old fashioned but I just put the amount of water I require in the kettle, one cup and a bit, two cups and a bit, whatever.
By the time I have had a quick scratch , evicted the cat from the bench , and given the pup a treat ( ashore) or stuck head out hatch and decided whether to go back to bed or not ( afloat) kettle is boiled.
Nothing annoys me more than( OK that isn't quite true - I could write a rather large book on really truly annoying things ) than some drongo that fills kettle absolute full to make one or two cups.

Try this for daft. I once took out a group of firemen for a sailing course. As one of many things in the safety brief, I talked about putting the cups in the galley sink whilst making tea for the crew. Clearly one of them wasn't quite paying attention.....made the tea in the sink.

I got one of those for SWM.... err Mrs OH who is having trouble lifting a kettle with her arthritic hands. The Amazon version that arrived was lethal - splashing boiling water in all directions. Really dangerous. Straight back with a strong complaint about how unsafe it is.
