SAC Graphics do a very sticky, stick on rubber name plate specifically for tenders, which makes it look very yours and alot better than a felt tip marker. It would probably be satisfactory for your insurance company as well.

my ding went missing once when i didn't put the rabbit through the hole corectly. a friendly neighbour was able to return it as i had labelled it with the SSR number.

[Avalon]

Rather than the boat name, I paint my sail number on the tender and outboard. This uniquely links the tender to the boat, but is no help to the thieves as the sail number is only visible when the sails are up....
