On the way out the marina, I met the man who altered all the press studs on MF's dodgers which were a perfect fit. Now dont fit at all, he'd had umpteen attempts cos the dodger is now full of holes. Tuther day I took off all the bungy cords he put on her cover, which looked horried and did not work anyway. I replaced them with string.

He said he could not look now, but I was to make an appointment with him in the future. Stuff him I thought.

On the way back I called in the chandlers for a packet of press studs, because the ones they had sold me before had no buttons.

Go on how much for ten press studs.

I only needed three button ends, cos there were none in the last pack.

OK cost of ten press studs.......£17.79. Cost of the repair that I've now undone. £95.

How much brain does it take to leave three press studs in the right place.

A tip. Instead of bashing the boat about with the numb hammer and punch. I used my pipe wrench and a big screw, to squeeze the rivet together. Is there not a simple set of pliers to do this job.

Yes, you can buy a "pliers" type press tool specifically for press studs on canvas. I carry one in the boat's toolkit. They make the job loads easier and better

Thankz , I used the pipe pliers and a large scew. Took me ages. But better than bashing hell out the boat.
