I'm being tempted by an early 60's Dutch steel, teak superstructure motor boat.
It was until 3 or 4 years ago beautifully kept, but unhappily the husband died and over the last few years the boat has not been similarly maintained.
I am assuming it will require, at least, a total superstructure "back to bear wood", relaying/recaulking/ replacement of teak decks and hull repaint.
The interior will require a fair bit of remedial work together with full carpet, cutrtains and upholstery.
Engines are original so must be at the end of their life.
To get the sort of end result I would want I will almost certainly have the work done by a yard.

My wife and I are very happy with our current very comfortable, quite modern and indecently quick Tupperware gin palace.

Am I completely mad?

Yes. Unless you are very wealthy. A working rule, seldom wrong, for this sort of job, is "take the yard's estimate, then triple it".
