Tempory Moorings with Electric Hookup advice please.

Hi All

I have bought myself a slightly bigger boat, and am picking it up from Staines on Wednesday hopefully.

I am looking for moorings with electric for a couple of nights as I have to wait until the weekend for some crew so I can take the boat to Oxford.

Somewhere with showers and toilets would be good too, but only electric is essential (so that I can charge my laptop and be able to work while I am there).

Any suggestions?

Simplest solution would probably be to book a couple of nights at Penton Hook marina which is only 1 lock downriver from Staines.

alternatively you might get a mooring at Bell Weir lock?

The moorings at Bell Weir lock no longer have electric. Penton would be the best bet.

Why go backwards (unless time is of the essence) ?

Windsor or Bray might accommodate you, all three are MDL.

Whichever depends on how much time you have on Wednesday and whether you have to pick up a car etc.

Just found that on the map, Penton Hook is very handy. I am picking the boat up from just down the river from there. Will be calling in there for fuel before I go anywhere else anyway.

I do have some time as I am picking the boat up in the morning. My son and I will be going on the train but he needs to be heading back home the same day. what would be a realistic cruising time to get to Windsor or Bray?

Mind you if there are still red boards on the River then I will just go to Penton Hook.

You could get to Windsor or Bray in 3 to 4 hours depending on locks etc.

Don't know what fuel you need so worth mentioning diesel only at Penton. No petrol.

Yes, thanks. Its diesel. I phoned Penton Hook earlier to check and to see if they had space for me.

Unfortunately I cant afford to give the old one away for free ;-)

New one certainly isn't new, only new to me. 23' with 8' 6" beam so there is a lot more room that the old one.
Not sure what the air draught is though, but I think i can still go under Osney Road bridge.
