Our boat is currently in Spain. We have to take our boat out of EU water in accordance with the temporary allowance 18 month rule. Does anyone know whether it is possible to take the boat out at Monaco for this purpose and has anyone experience in doing it?

Suggest you talk to the local customs where your boat is located to determine what they will accpt as evidence of leaving the EU and re-entering to apply for a further 18 months. EU law does not define clearly what "leaving the EU" means and it is left to state customs to manage the process. Some states will accept evidence of leaving territorial waters as sufficient, Others may require evidence of entering a non EU state such as customs entry and exit plus marina bill. As for agents. There are two types - one is an agent in Spain who will manage relations with customs for you and the other in the non EU state who will deal with customs there for your evidence.

If you are a member of the CA you may well find advice there from other members who have experience of how to manage it in Spain.

Gibraltar is your best bet from Spain. Or Morocco

Thank you again. We will probably depart from southern Sardinia to Tunisia then. Has anyone on this forum experience of local customs in these countries please?
