CEFAS is laying some unlit marks in the Blackwater

1. 51 45 48N 000 57 90E - Blackwater, off Mersea Flats/edge of deep water of the Blackwater.
2. 51 44 82N 000 53 58E - Off the Baffle Wall
3. 51 43 74N -000 50 34E - By Thirstlet Spit buoy 4.
51 43 26N 000 45 12E - Off the South West corner of Osea Island, just outside the 'deep' water.

To be deployed between 01/012008 and 31/03/2008 - described as 4 new moorings (sic) with 4 Yellow conical shaped marker buoys

All unlit as far as I can see - not that I can see them! From the paperwork that is. There is NtM about these at present

My first guess is that its to check on tidal flows after the opening of the seawall experiment at Abbots Hall Farm (at the head of the Leavings, Tollesbury). Or to get some base line data before another seawall they can't afford is let go. I'm glad this house is about 30ft above the HW line (as far as I can reckon). If the Bali people are right I should be able to have a jetty at the end of my garden before I go to the great pond in the sky.

What does an aquaculture -ist or -ologist do? Grow seaweed? Listen to handel's water music??

Would you believe me if I said they were doing a herring survey ? Or at least they were the last time I had anything to do with them /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You'll be permanently on Mersea at that point! Won't have to read the tide tabl to see if the Strood is flooded!

Well, I've got a boat so we'll be alright. Be able to get to the Tesco's at the Hythe aux bateau (the bridge will be washed away). And then there's the herring!
