At what temperature is the alarm supposed to sound on an AD41A? I've fiddled with the thermostats, which look OK, and the electrical connections, which look OK, and the impeller, which is fine, plenty of water coming out of the exhaust and not as steam! The temp gauge is reading between 80 and 85 degrees, as far as I can tell this is when thermostat#2 opens. The alarm makes faint noises and then settles down to a steady tone, which goes back to faint noises if I drop a couple of hundred revs or so. No, I'm no thrashing the engine, this is happening at 3000 or under!
Any suggestions welcome, its been irritating me this last couple of months and I want to fix it over the winter. I have had a electical engineer friend comment that it could be a dodgy earth making the gauge read low but AFAIK the alarm is not linked to the gauge, it has its own sender.
OK, yes, I could spend my children's inheritance on a VP engineer, but this seems the sort of thing that a DIYer ought to be able to manage given the collective wisdom round here.
TIA
