I love my new furling head sail.

Having had only hank on sails, I am having trouble as to where to position tell-tales

The new sails have three inserts in the luff for furling. I suppose, these and the luff foil make things rather different to hanks.

The luff is about 30' .

About a foot behind the foil is not working very well.

Any thoughts would be very welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I don't see why it should be much different to a hanked sail. A modern foil won't introduce any significant turbulence, though an old round-sectioned one will slightly and a part-furled sail would. You could experiment with stick-on tell tales until you get the result you want. I may be that your new sail is cut differently to your old one and the sailmaker can advise.
