Tell me if it works!

Now 6th edited try! The pics are all around 24k now and I saved it as web filtered (whatever that does) so here goes!

This is the URL, copying and pasting this works but I cannot get the embedded links to work, I am an idiot, stupid, senile old fool....

This is doing my poor brain no good at all....

Last try at a link http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.white3/The Heartbeat Website.htm

Yes we use it for Weatherfax using SeaTTY software which is RTTY and also Fax as well in the latest version. SeaTTY is excellent, it is shareware and I have registered it ($30 I think, very cheap). We also use in demo form JVComms32 which also does Fax, RTTY and Navtex. With Navtex the M600 will tune to the main 518 but not the (local) 4... frequency. Connection to the laptop is via a lead from the Ext speaker connection on the M600 to the microphone input on the laptop, this is a simple lead with small jackplugs both ends, I think there might be an adapter at the set end from large to small jackplugs. It took a while to work out how to calbrate the fax software to the computer but once done you wonder why it seems so difficult. We do not use it for e-mail though I have looked at the idea, it seems it is very slow and unless you really need it, there is an annual charge and a piece of hardware to buy (Pactor Modem????). We have received faxes from the West coast of USA, but haven't tried transmitting in anger yet at long range.

Nope, it doesn't work unless I go back to your root directory (i.e. index.html) and then click on your heartbeat website link.

The problem is your spaces, for some reason my browser is really struggling with them, html does not like spaces at all, so instead of calling it

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.white3/THE WHITEHOUSE WEBSITE.htm

you would be better using underscores, so that it becomes >>

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.white3/THE_WHITEHOUSE_WEBSITE.htm

Once in it worked fine, nice boat by the way.

Hope this helps.....

Hi Julian

I have changed it (new reply to the original post), the new one loads much much quicker.

Try this address

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.white3/The Heartbeat Website.htm

I think the spaces are a problem on YBW too since in the full URL it has symbols for percentage20 (I cannot type them as the appear on here because they vanish on the preview and the post) where the spaces are, these or the spaces stop a link working in YBW I think. I'm not sure how I can change it without having to reload the whole web page again!

Robin,
It all works now, even with the firewall. Smart boat but surely you had a larger spirit locker on your Westerly 33?

<hr width=100% size=1>

Thanks Henry though I'm not really sure what I did!

That is only the 'ready to use' booze locker, back-up stocks are in the usual middle of the table locker and a fitted wine locker under a bunk! Thing is not to put the cheaper stuff in the bulkhead display...

If you are interested I have some scanned pics of our old W33 under sail that were taken for the PBO article by David Harding. If you want them, send me a PM with your e-mail address. She is now in Plymouth and renamed 'Heartbeat of Arne' as we kept the name.

Thats the correct (latest) one but the spaces between The and Heartbeat and again before Website seems to create problems with embedded links in posts, cutting and pasting the URL works OK, I have no idea why!

<hr width=100% size=1>

The problem with spaces etc is a known bug, and Kim is aware of it.

Anyway, once in, it's now loading at lightening speed compared to previously!! So, well done, you've sorted it!

you probably tested it in preview before it was posted, It's the posting that breaks it - the forum doesn't like spaces in the url, not characters etc.

If you try your liink now it actually tries to direct you to <http:///>

It's not an explorer thing, it's a bug in the forum software

Pictures come up instantly now on broadband around the other side of the world.

Thank you kind Sir! I should perhaps have asked one of the grandkids to do it, they probably learned how in their first year at school, but I still have some pride left...

All I need now is to learn how to make it professional looking with separate pages etc and add some proper pictures taken sailing, still priority one is achieved in getting page one up, running and readable! I told SWMBO that she could be on page 3 (UK newspaper joke) so I guess that's me out of luck for a while!

Probably going over ground already covered but your url didn't work for me but bbily's did.

Some observations :

Does the proximity of the wind generator interfere with radar reception?
Do you have time for golf as well ?

John

Bonjour John

Try the Mk2 link which I changed it to in a later post

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.white3/The Heartbeat Website.htm

I cannot make it clickable on here as YBW has a glitch re spaces, but copy and paste the above should work OK.

The wind generator doesn't interfere with either the Radar or the GPS aerials that are up on the gantry. It does however cast a shadow on the solar panel sometimes as does the radar scanner.

My golf is reduced at the moment though we are going to visit T's family in the USA later this month and I am planning to play every day, fortunately she plays too and is keener than me! I got a little out of the golfing habit when we changed boat and had a lot of things to do the first winter (re-rigging, revamping the reefing system, adding the bolt on goodies as one does) and business and other things (like the weather when I was free to play). We did have a week in Carnac too over New Year and played 5 times at St Laurent GC. I also managed a blind date golf with johna from the forums a while back!

Robin, you're a lying toerag .. that women up the mast cannie be a grannie, can she? It must be yer grand-daughter!

<hr width=100% size=1>.. whit way roon should it be again ..

Eldest grandaughter is I believe the same age as your eldest daughter if I remember your Weymouth post right. And that is the nearest to a clue I dare give and have a hope of keeping my nookie licence. She looks younger as I look older, some kind of age transference going on I suspect, or I am using the wrong moisturiser!
