Hi guys, the steering cable on my boat is about 2 foot too long, can I cut the outer sheath and trim it to the correct length or should I just buy the correct length when funds allow, cheers for all your help /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Does....

... the cable run out into a translucent sheath off of the side of the steering head sprocket houising? If so, then the answer is, YES.

I did this on my very first sea-going boat, Sara 2 over 40 years ago. Our next boat had the same steering but that had been properly installed by the builders.
