I beg to differ also think its good in the right place, easy to clean for one thing and doesnt go off colour easy.

Also where do you get 35-40 years as being longer than the average boat life? GRP shows every sign of lasting for years. My first boat was over 30 years old and had a lot more in her.

They are my views also, Ive got light grey carpet in the cockpit which shows up every mark & is purgatory to keep clean the alternative is off white G.R.P. so for me the best looking option is tek dek, mind you thats when I finally manage to get it done. I also think it sets a small cruiser off irrevalent wether its fake or not.....Nat

I've looked at the Aikona again - I see what you mean about the thin veneer. But that is plastic too right? So no worry about cleaning etc just mechanical/impact damage?
Looks 100% the biz when side by side to TeK Dek which when held in your hand looks err.........like plastic.

Depends on which Tek-Dek you got, the flexible has a standard factory finish, which can be changed depending on the grade of sand paper, i.e. getting the bitty feel, just like Aikona, the actual veneer is the same material as tek-dek, just finished differently. How many times can you sand a veneer though??
