Teem Surveys, Thomas Elder, Clyde - any idea what happened to him?

Really liked him, had an insurance survey 4 years ago, looking about for next one, but Teem Surveys seem to have disappeared?

We have had issues in the past with surveryors being ultra cautious (in an insurance survey), but Thomas Elder had the balance just right, like Jim McIlwraith before him.

Or who do you suggest?

I had a survey done by Tom Elder last April. His wife advised that Tom wasn't in the best of health then. Maybe is still in similar circumstances?

For me it was always Jim Mac until he retired. Not sure I could recommend anyone as I haven't used them myself.

Jim Abernethy surveyed a boat I sold a few years ago. If he's still practicing my be worth a call?

Mr Elder died last year. If I recall, he had been ill for a while and had some treatments along the way to try and improve quality of life.

Michael Hall, Greenock, shoreoffice@gmail.com has performed an insurance survey for me. He was reasonable but his report editing was poor as the report had features from another boat. I also asked for a valuation, which I didn't get. After reminding him, despite my record of works and prices, I got a valuation. I am not sure how much work was put into the valuation, but there we go. We got there in the end and I would use him again. He did not want me hanging about, but I told him I wasn't going anywhere and will not get in the way of him doing the job, which he accepted, and got on with it.

I just had conversation with DCMarine, Oban area (MCA surveyor) and MW marine Survey, Helensburgh for a job I require. Both sounded very competent and I had a decent conversation with them. I haven't used them yet. DC is well established and well known, MW is newish (he is not qualified to be an MCA surveyor).
