Needing to hit St Kats at around 10:00 local from Teddington...will Richmond sluices be open? Never done tidal before so not sure what Richmond is about, but told to avoid the lock!

You may not be able to avoid the lock...

If you want to avoid the bottom...Tedd lock will give you the full timings, I have to nip out for an expensive journalists lunch so dont have time right now!

Details?

Not sure if your 10.00 ETA St Kat's is based on their locking times or just that you have an appointment there?
St Kat's locks in London Bridge HW -2hrs to +1.5hrs.
HW Richmond Lock is approx' LB HW+1hr
Richmond sluices are raised 2 hrs before HW Richmond and closed 2 hrs after HW.
There is sufficient water(just, assuming normal 3ft draft) from Richmond down, 3hrs before HW, so you may wish to use the lock.
You can make it to St Kat's for last locking by going as soon as the sluices go down but leaves no room for delays.
You may need to do a little more homework first!

Departing Richmond as soon as there is sufficient depth worked perfectly for us in a single screw 60hp Broom.

We arrived only ten to fifteen minutes after the twin-screw boys who were motoring a tad faster from Hammersmith onwards!

21st June - HW Tedd is 1100

Richmond will lift their sluices at around 0900.

To be at St Kats for 1000 you need to leave us at around 0715 / 0730

This will get you to Richmond for 0745 / 0800 , you can lock through ( £5 ) and then head off to St Kats. There should be enough water downstream for you as it will be rising downstream of Richmond

As with everything , predicted levels can be wrong ( especially is there isn't much water coming over our weir ) so its worth ringing Richmond when you are in Teddington Lock ( we can do this for you ) and asking what the water situation downstream of them is like at that moment.

Best wishes
