Teddington fishing line

Does anyone know any more about the 175 foot fishing line found in the river in Teddington? Looks as if it was put there by poachers! But for what purpose! Surely there can't be that many edible fish !!! Just can't help but think it would have done wonders for for any passing propeller.

'Pike, Perch, Carp and Bream are edible' and I think I've eaten all of them abroad. Although there's always confusion because of the 'pike-perch' seen on menus which I think is Zander.

But back to the main point, I was chatting to an EA guy at a country show this year and he told me this goes on. Incredible. Incredibly bad. Is there any more info on the thing at Teddington?

Nothing new, Plenty of eastern Europeans are, Throwing out various fishing rigs across the Thames, pulling them in later and the booty on the hooks,or in the nets. Seen them putting them out. Decided not to say anything as I had settled down for the night on a nice quiet mooring. And I would of been wasting my breath as I did the last thieves I reported to Thames valley police.

some great carp areas now decimated by this practice. Probably the same lads that thieve your outboards.

Getting up in the middle of the night to walk the dog before a very early tide,sometimes 2/3am at Teddington you always see fisherman.They are keeping their catch,the dog always disturbs them and usually tries to nick the fish that are laid out!

But as long as people are getting cheap extensions and their cars washed no problem eh

Getting up in the middle of the night to walk the dog before a very early tide,sometimes 2/3am at Teddington you always see fisherman.They are keeping their catch,the dog always disturbs them and usually tries to nick the fish that are laid out!
Not to mention stealing the charity clothes from the collection areas constantly , at Twyford waitrose car park, taking the bags up the road stashing them in the hedge , coming back for bag after bag.
These particular ones are not homeless or unemployed, work locally on the land mainly for the garden centres, maybe they are being exploited and not earning enough
But as long as people are getting cheap extensions and their cars washed no problem eh

Its a big problem up here around Oxford too, in Poland it is quite normal to catch fish for tea in the local river, they think our local fishermen are all mad sitting there all night and throwing all their catch back.

You can't blame the Eastern Europeans(it's part of their culture). I blame everyone who didn't vote UKIP(including me, because the candidate was a pro third runway nutter).
But I still do my bit by washing my own car and only use local tradesmen.

It goes into a holding tank unfortunately. I thought it worked like old trains did, but apparently not. And to think how many times I crossed my legs in vain until over France

The EA didn't investigate the Teddington fishing net, which sounds odd but the reason why makes sense(unfortunately).
On discovering the net and releasing the live fish, the well known fisherman almost immediately uploaded his video to Facebook, which spread to other fora and the BBC. Thereby blowing any chance the EA had of catching the perpetrators in the act of recovering their catch.
