I have one of these excellent three burner cookers on board but unfortunately one of the knobs is missing. I imagine the cooker was original with the boat, in 1990. Does anyone know if spares are available and, if so, where from? Ideally I'd like to get one that matches, alternatively replace all four, in which case can I buy knobs that will fit from elsewhere? Many thanks.
 
Eye watering is right! £39 for a knob? I thought my plastimo ones were over the top at £6 each.

Check the fittings size at the back, they are almost certainly a standard fitting. I replaced mine with a set fom Maplin at less than £10 for four...
 
Thanks for the links. Gees! I had no idea they were that much. For four knobs is a decent percentage of the price of a new cooker! I'll seek out some alternatives from Maplin. Many thanks.
 
I have a Techimpex 2-burner, w/oven and grill. It works quite well but the quality of the materials used is very bad for such an expensive item. The pot-holders and rails are developing rust and the oven clip was an early casualty. Despite much googling I could find no source of spare parts. However, I found a fragment of a stainless steel jubilee clip in the boatyard and fashioned this into a replacement for the oven clip and, so far, it is performing better than the original. Hopefully I will not be needing to visit the Socal website too soon!

There was a Techimpex dealer at the Southampton Boat Show last year ... I may be able to find his card somewhere in a day or two. I like mine, but agree about the rusting pot holders. It is also surprisingly easy to displace the gas supply pipe to the oven from the air mixer, giving all sorts of interesting effects. It just springs back, though.
 
Bainbridge are (or were) the importer and hold very few spares. Best to junk the cooker and get something better - not difficult as it is probably the worst made cooker on the market. The only problem is that if you have the basic hob and oven the choice of direct replacements is very limited.

As my post, Socal hold a reasonable selection of spares - but at a price!
 
Had a similar problem a couple of years ago---I went to my local Council tip and recycling centre where they have a separate area for junked fridges, washing machines and cookers. Discretely removed a selection of knobs from the cookers, took them home and hey presto found four matching ones that fitted the spindles.

Probably illegal but I considered that I wasn't actually committing a particularly heinous offence.
 
Penguin Engineering on Hayling Island is who you're thinking of I think.

I bought 2 cookers to replace the Techimpex ovens on a friends and our boat. These were a direct replacement of the original but with a grill too. The draw to us was no holes etc to drill and simply slot in a newer, better oven.

We were given the sales talk about Techimpex making different standards due to pricing pressure from various boat manufacturers and these replacements being far superior to the originals.

Biggest waste of money so far on the boat. I can assure you they are shockingly bad. Turn oven on, heats up - great, now can't withdraw any of the shelves or grill tray etc as the oven has now distorted in shape.

If I lived round the corner from them, no question they would have both gone back for a refund.
