Teak & Varnish or other finish

Semco if you don’t have too much wood unless you have a crew of course. I guess it depends on how much time you have but we do our cockpit capping sand toe rail each year cleaning down with washing/powdered bleach mix before reapplying 2 coats.
Second that. Semco is so easy to apply with a cloth, with a damp cloth to hand to wipe up any drips.
We decant Semco into a old plastic olive oil bottle. so we can give it a shake every so often to keep the Semco mixed up.
Perfect for toe rails, cappings and small width wood pieces.
2 coats on the whole boat (after 1 teak clean at the beginning of the season ) takes just over an hour.
Then another 2 coats halfway through the season.
Think the orangey tinge on larger areas would be too much, but for our small amount of teak it looks great!

Forgot to mention, have moved to Marine 16 Teak cleaner/restorer system this year. Both economical and excellent in equal
measure.

If you have a cover for it then teak oil is worth considering. I did this on my Bavaria and it was OK for about 5 years with an annual top up, but after that I went for Woodskin, but not sure it was a good idea as it marked easily.
Thank you, any particular brand to go with? The market appears to be swamped from cheap as chips to significantly more, having spent £300 I want do it right first time!

If you like boating then sand it once to remove existing varnish and spray on Patio Magic anually. It'll stay perfectly clean and won't wear if you don't scrub it. If you hate boating then varnish and sanding, or get a caravan with no teak!

Two coats of what?
Following my suggestion on post#23.Teak oil - always looks good when it first goes on, but needs more than 2 coats to stay looking good for any length of time. OK if the table is covered up, I put on about 6 coats and then a top up each year on a similar cockpit table and it looked fine for 5 years - but only exposed when using the boat and covered all winter.

Teak Oil

According to the data sheets, this is pretty much the same as the International stuff but half the price. As Tranona says, it will need a few more coats and will get at least two more in a few weeks time once these two have had plenty of time to be absorbed
