Some time ago, I found a UK supplier of teak DIY kits for making cockpit soles and the like; they supplied duly cut and shaped wood, you glued it together. Can't find it any more using all sorts of ingenious combinations of words in Google. Anyone know who I mean (or can suggest suppliers of readymade articles)?

(I've picked up their leaflets from the Boat Show, but not used them).

Thats good timing - I'm not sure I can convince the old cockpit sole grating to stay together another year. On the otherhand, the price may give me cause to try again..

... and that's a nice coincidence as I've my beady eye on upgrading to a Centurion 32 soonish and covet it most sinfully! Never seen on in the flesh, tho'; none to be seen here as far as I know. Sigh!

Two boats ago I bought a teak board, had it machined into the appropriate sizes and then routed the bits to make the gratings.

Last boat I couldn't face doing the same thing again so we looked at the KJ Howells kits.

In the end I asked them to make the gratings to the correct size as they were only slightly more money than the kit. When they arrived they looked the absolute biz and fitted perfectly.

If you are going to enjoy glueing them together buy a kit. If you just want new gratings why not get them to make them?
