hi all after reading all the posts about teak decking does anybody have any good reviews of tekdek or flexiteak as my deck is in a pretty bad way after all the fittings the last owner placed on it

Flexiteek

We had Flexiteek fitted to the cockpit of our Hunter Pilot a few months ago, and then had some floor panels made up for the heads and other standing areas. Pleased with it so far - it looks good and cleans easily. Haven't tried pressure washing it, but scrubbing it has caused no problems to date.

Another HP owner had it fitted first to the cockpit and later to the deck, and he gave me positive feedback on it.

We preferred the colour of Flexiteek to Tek-Dek having seen both at SBS last year; Flexiteek seemed more teak like and less plastic.

Hope this helps.

We had Flexiteek fitted both on the ring deck and coach roof, initial problem with some of the material was sorted out amicably by the fitters ( www.advancedmarinedecking.co.uk ). Three years on and the deck is doing fine.

I reckon Flexiteek trounces TekDek as it still looks woody (still fools people now) after 3 years and the latter looks like plastic from the start. It does darken slighty over time but it's not bad.

OK it's not real teak but it cost a lot (lot!) less, requires virtually no maintenance and meant I didn't have to drill any holes in my deck to fit it.

It can be sanded if you spill anything on it like paint etc & it's extremely non slip too.

No connection to the above company, just a very satisfied customer.

Crispin.

We had Marinedeck 2000 fitted - not a plastic alternative. This is cork based. Very nice underfoot - isolates (keeps heat out in summer and cold in winter.

Pictures when jsut new (June).
After 2 months in the 'sun' the colour has faded somewhat (good thing) - looks less 'orangy' now.

Urg, all the non-teak things look extremely like plastic to me. They're just too uniform. Realy, it's lino, innit? Also (altho not usually an issue in uk) they are super-hot in tropics - a guy with fake teak had to chuck a bucket of water on to his deck just to walk around. Real teak in the cockpit, white plastic elsewhere imho. Another option could be marinedeck2000, cork-based summink, lightweight and doesn't pretend to be teak.
