Teak Decking - What adhesive ?

Recommendations please for the best adhesive to use when fixing traditional teak decking direct to GEL coat.

Sikaflex 298 is pretty much the only choice for this (for bonding the teak, not for caulking it. Caulking requires 290DC and some primers+tape)
 
And wear gloves...that stuff is blimmin difficult to get off your hands. Sticks until the skin sloughs off iirc.
 
Sika (or equivalent) is the dominant method now. There is a good article in the current PBO showing how it is done. Epoxy can be used, but if it does not go right is really difficult to repair. The big advantage of a Polyurethane adhesive is that it is flexible so can cope with differential expansion of the teak and the substrate - really important if you are using thick (9-12mm) teak. To avoid using fastenings you do need to preshape your teak strips by steaming or cutting from solid - as in the article - so they are inherently stable.
