nope, no paint, anyway don't think paint over carpet would look to good /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Would re carpet if I could find a supplier of rot proof carpet. Still some form of teak takes my fancy and shes an old boat and deserves the best I can get.
search onmbchat for last year.. frequent topic. On the whole, practical, but doesnt look like teak. And not necessarily that much cheaper. The more I looked into it, the more convinced I was you need a fantastic attention to detail or it looks horrendous. Fitting costs are not cheap...
With all these Fake-Teaks, the best idea is for you to provide a template, and get the company to make it up. Then it arrives backed to some paper, you put glue on the deck and stick it down with some weights. It does about double the cost but saves you from making a very expensive mistake unless you have hours and days spare. It all saves you the fitting cost which is majority of travel time.
Get the template right, get a nice day and the job is a good one. Done well it will last and look good. Get it wrong and you always know. I saw a Fairline Targa 29 with this done right (brilliant) and one done wrong (awful). The difference is amazing. If I was doing it I would get the templates made up and then get the Flexi teak delivered made up. You do save a bit on wasted materials as well!
