Teak coaming leak underneath, Westerly

Thanks 30boat for your direct experience. I'm now looking forward to doing the job and will feedback if I find anything unexpected. As has been pointed out it may not be the original coaming, but at least I know the basics of what to expect. My stern is directly facing the SW in the yard so the shape of the deflectors is often making them good rain catchers. Tarpaulin being fitted tomorrow.... yes, a bit late :)

Update. Got one side of the deflector coaming off along with one handrail and the spray cover metal fitting strip so far. It had been removed and refitted in the past and the leak I had found was a pretty much open hole with some minimal gunk. Looks like whoever refitted it was relying on mastic along the base of the teak coaming. Going to remove the other side and going to rebed the hatch cover too. Going to follow the advice here

in particular Vyv Cox's post. Not going for the butyl tape as I have plenty of sikaflex. So time to buy some epoxy.....
