I get the impression that out sagaceous friend needs driving lessons on how to handle his boat cos he's a bit nervous of close manouvring and, not to put too fine a point on it, he crashes his boat quite frequently. So, in the goodness of my heart I'm going to offer him a course of tuition, what points should I cover, do you think?
 
hmm that was a bit of an accident cos I never meant to hit it, really. Had I noticed it, I would have avoided it but as I was stowing fenders and the boat was on autopilot at the time it was'nt really bad driving on my behalf, it was all the autopilots fault .. so really not a good start to your learning process to start making ill judged remarks to your tutor. You ought to start these thing with a mind that open for learning rather than yer auld narrow yin .. can see why you 've got a Twister ..justt like yer mind.

All the same, in the interest of the greater good, I'll still take ye on as a bit of a project.. I can see the potential even if no-one else does, at least I've never fitted a bilge pump the wrong way round..

I've had a few little scrapes, usually when parking but only one bit of damage. The real p!sser being that SWMBO and I were a mile away in the supermarket at the time.

Boat swung round and biffed a Portuguese fishing boat which wasnt there when we anchored. Crew managed to keep the two hulls apart, despite SWMBO's undies drying on the guard rail (which is why the 'king boat swung round at all /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif )getting 'in their faces'. Pushpit just about folded flat on to the deck /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

A mere £130 to straighten out properly when we got home - nothing like an insurance claim where I was able to claim for both sides of the boat to be sorted out even though only one of them hit a pile. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

EDIT: Should add it that even though we were a mile away, I still saw it as my fault (not the crew's) for anchoring there in the first place.

not sure whether you're implying that SWMBO's undies attracted a fishing boat or whether the pushpit folded under their weight .. can you please clarify?

You sure about that. I heard you were so pissed off, you went back and had another go at knocking the thing over.

I meant that it was like having a row of small spinnakers on the starboard quarter - the cross-your-heart version gave them a great shape in light airs!
 
hmmm .. however I've always gone round the cardinal at St Vaast, rather than taking a shortcut over the reef .. maybe you were so busy managing the VHF traffic you did know where you were?
 
you're right, I did know where I was. dinnae hit anything, anyway.

Also sailed right across Ryde Sands so I could complete one tack from inside the Grand Rade to Netley Abbey. Just got to have a bit of faith in the fact that water gets deeper twice a day, every day.

I hope her ladyship isn't reading this. Having her underwear compared to great blossoming spinnakers is not tres flattering.
