Tea at Tiffins

I'm very sorry that your establishment is rather outside my normal range of operations. A tea shop is such a traditional and civilised part of British life, pace Dad's Army & all that. In my youth there are two types, those that sold lovely home-made cakes, and those that only provided bought-in cakes, such as the notorious and revolting Kunzle cakes. I'm sure it is quality that will keep people coming, so good luck.

Thank you, and I agree entirely, must admit we thought about using bought in cakes, then tried them. No thanks, I prefer a proper cake not something that doesn't go off a week later. My mother taught me to cook and bake, and it's those principles we're going back to, with the added twist here and there. But it's silly things like having proper pieces of walnut in a cake, not dust that you'd sweep up off the floor. Belgian chocolate and double cream used in the chocolate cake, silly things that really make a difference to people who have taste buds that haven't been tortured by commercially available sources. I'm a fussy git when it comes to food, I like things done properly, something I'll always argue about when someone mentions how easy it is to do something in a microwave. Damn things should never have been invented
And I'm off again, best shut up before I start going on about other instant meals ;)

3 Excellent reviews on Tripadvisor, but I had a real problem finding a location map, clearly my Silver Surfin' is not up to scratch. perhaps an address on the webpage should be added?...... Sad to say as a Bourneite, we don't venture to Spalding much, we tend to go the other way..... but you just might tempt me now ... any parking close by?

Thank you and points duly taken aboard, I've added the address and in the new year we'll be working more on the site. As for parking, indeed yes, we're located in a sort of layby where there's off road parking, and the other side of the road there's the village hall car park, which is treated as a sort of overflow car park by everyone to cut down congestion on the through route

...except... You will miss all those people who don't subscribe to the misnamed "social media"...

That issue has now been addressed by the local paper, Spalding Voice went to press last night and today's issue was delivered to a circulation of some 55000 plus available at loads of other places. Picked mine up this morning from the local Mace shop, it's at photodogs price too, free :encouragement:
Here's a link to the online article http://www.spaldingvoice.co.uk/business/make-time-tea-cake-tiffins/

Quick heads up on this one so hope nobody objects to my posting again, but for those in the Lincolnshire area, we had a surprise visit from a reporter who works for the Lincolnshire Free Press today, and apparently he's going to write an article in next weeks edition. Photographer coming in the morning too, must remember to have a shave, just in case, so you'll get an idea of what we do from his perspective. Quite liked his description though, he said that when he walked in it was like walking in and having a big hug from us. Quite sweet I thought, but he did mean it metaphorically and not literally, I didn't really hug him, honest. Anyway, if nobody objects I'll post a link to the article when it goes online
Now I'm going to sit back and enjoy a beer, it's been flat out all week so my feet are killing me, plus the hands that do dishes don't feel soft as the face
