Did anyone see the latest yougov poll about tax? V interesting.

First off, i think that the incredible achievement by the blair govt is that they have somehow managed to pursuade everyone that paying tax is a Good and Virtuous Thing. It's for school and hospitals, see. So, either you vote Labour, or you're an extremist loonie, or a selfish git.

So, for a change, the yougov poll asked what you'd do with a spare £200 quid, one of the options being to give it to local govt ,amnd another being to give it to central government.

The results were that less that 1% would give the money to local govt, and 0% to central govt. So, really and truly, not one person honestly thinks that giving any more money to the govt will result in anything worthwhile.

and 98-99% of boaters said, if they had a spare £200, they'd like to buy 40 gallons of road duty diesel? Not.

No. Your conclusion has nothing to do with the result. The conclusion might be that very few people would put giving £200 to local or central gvmt very high on their priorities. Guess thats why tax isnt voluntary!
