Taps and connectors

The tap connectors leaked for a while and nearly filled the forward bilge in my Sadler 32.

The pipes feeding the tap have been cut and sealed now.

Any idea how to remove the connectors (hot and cod) from the tap?

I have tried unscrewing them, and have tried pulling them off.

But I fear breaking them.

The taps has a plastic nut holding it to the sink top, but that unscrew until it hits the connectors.

Tap would seem to be good, I think its a Plastimo job.

The connectors are some sort of Speedfit-type device, and there will be a way of releasing them from the pipes. Perhaps try to identify the make by using Google Images, then research the release method.

They are push fit connectors ( Speedfit???) but they dont just pull off again.

Personally only ever used one. IIRC the bit that projects releases them if pushed down , but there may be different types.
 
Cut them off so that you can take the tap out. You will then be able to unscrew whatever has been screwed in to allow the pushfits to be connected. You can then start from scratch with proper tap connectors from the plumbers.

A lot of new boats now are plumbed with pushfit, so it wouldn't surprise me if the tap was made that way. Obviously not on a Sadler 32 from new, but I assume the tap was added at a later date.

If they are the type I think they are then Screwfix sell a tool which you place over the top of the fitting pushing them tool down and it releases the clamps which hold it onto the pipe.
 
Look like the connectors we used at work (Speed fix or John Guest). On the right hand elbow in the right hand picture you can see the top collar sticking out (next to blue pipe) press this down (in) towards the elbow and at the same time pull elbow off pipe. Domestic plumbing and boats occasionally use the same fittings.

Once again, many thanks for all your inputs..

This Sadler has been refitted to quite an excellent standard, so not surprised the taps are more modern than the original. I have owned her (Triton) for 10years now.

Yes taps have an electric switch to the water pump, thus am hoping they just need a new connector.
