tank level display

I was getting all excited until I saw the price :(
Same here.
Wooden dipstick covered in self adhesive heatshrink for the fuel tank. Cost = pennies.
Sight tube for the water tanks. Ditto.
But I'm not going to be dipping the holding tank any time soon and a sight tube is impractical and, well, unsightly. I might have to repair the faulty sensor in there ?

When I bought Katy Louise I was told that the fuel gauge didn't work. I found out why, there was no sender in the tank just a choc block on the end of the wire. There was a thinned down sail batten supplied used to dip the tank, it does work, but I would like to sort the sender sometime. Yet another job on the list.

There is a fluid level guage on the KDD Power split charge relay set up, I wonder if it would be any good if I change from the car type relay fitted.

Fortunately our water tank is in the lazarette and is of translucent plastic. To check the level I just need to open the hatch and have a look. There is wiring for a gauge and it is shown on the original electrical diagram, but no sign of a transducer.
Previous boat had a Plastimo flexible tank under the saloon floor so again just the lift the floorboard and have a look.
