My wife and I are currently taking a break here in Croatia, yesterday the Dutch built super yacht pulled in. An awesome sight , according to Google a private owned yacht not for charter, stunning design in silver. It's taken the show on the quayside here . Previous days a Princess 32 metre was the daddy , now being dwarfed by this awesome sight.

I must say its my first visit here , very nice locals , very cheap food and drink First class hotel ( hotel Croatia) sea view room etc already thinking of next years hols here. Moorings are roughly £1 a foot per night up to 25m then double per m p night . Happy holidays folks.

When we had a boatshare in Croatia ten years ago Cavtat used to have a policy of only allowing smarter (not necessarily always larger) boats on the quay, with lowlier types like our Bav having to anchor off - do you know if it is still the same. We didn't particularly mind though - as you say, nice place.

Hey Paul

Croatia is fab, we've done the northern area around Pula three times .
Your not far from Montenegro , I think it's Kotor which has the big new marina.
We're currently enjoying the sun in Gocek Turkey , back to rainy Wales for bank holiday !

Enjoy your hols mate

Cheers

Tetleys

good choice Paul, both location and hotel !
I've used Hotel Croatia a few times for one overnight before taking the plane in Cilipi

we have just finished 6 weeks holliday's on the boat,
we have a permanent berth in Porte Montenegro in Tivat
but we have spend the most nights in Cavtat, since years our favourite place in the med !
we came there 12years in a row before we had Blue Angel, (then 3 seasons SOF) and now 2 seasons back there
we have some very good friends there,
say hello to Lari, the guy in the wheelshair that takes care of electric and water charges,
and Lucia, from Atlas Pizeria

in theory they take any boat on the quay in Cavtat, but there are a few unwritten rules, such as,
Agents and bigger yachts have priority, become friend with Antonio ;-) , they hate sail boats, ....

Tango is owned by a whealty Russian, who got rich with business in Bergiers eggs (or whatever)
he owns a few hotels and a private villa in a stunning place in Dubrovnik,
permanent berth is in Porto Montenegro, but when the owner is in Dubrovnic, the boat is in Cavtat.

when interested in super yachts it makes sense to hire a car and drive to tivat (50km 1h40mins) and visit porto Montenegro,
and visit the bay of Kotor, just around the corner

I have to admid that visiting Dubrovnic is not fun anymore,
you can literally walk over heads all day (except early in the mroning, or between 18h and 19h)

if you want specific info on restaurants or anything else, pls asc

picture was taken last year, from the terras at hotel Croatia

the big boat on the quay is Tango,
the first is Blue Angel

for those who don't know Cavtat
Cavtat consists of two half islands
one half Island is completely occupied by hotel Croatia, where the picture is taken from, and where Paul stay's
the village / town is on the other half Island, you can see the water on the other side / right side of the church tower on the right.

No it's not like that now , just spoke to quayside marinero guy , he says anyone is welcome ,he was attending to azimuth 50 and elegance 46 alongside another 240ft boat

Thanks Bart , that's where I'm sat now. Heaven ,suddenly the appeal of the Solent has taken a back seat.
